Mehrdad Dabbagh's art is ongoing evidence of his path of inquiry exploring our consciousness about place in the universe and the planet we inhabit. His multidisciplinary work investigates areas of mysticism, sustainability and the core of the things we have in common, transcending cultural icons to reach the deep internal places where we all understand our connectedness. This is our core, the way humans have communicated since the time before words, the language of the fine arts.
Mehrdad is on an investigation of our essence, which is joyful, kind and seeks integration - bringing human experience together. Mehrdad likens his process of painting to "Sahar Khizan", which translates to "the energies that bring on the dawn". The canvas may start out as a dark and stormy night sky, and when the first rays of light peek through, they illuminate and inform the image of the painting, which might develop into a landscape or a figure but is always rich and deep, just as our world around us is by the glowing light of the sunrise.
